The race is one of the most important cross country events in the Middle East and features WRC star Yazeed Al-Rajhi

Saudi WRC and Cross Country rally star Yazeed Al-Rajhi tops the entry list for Rally Jeddah 2016, the Kingdom’s new cross-country event that gets underway next Thursday afternoon in Obhur, in Saudi Arabia, with a three-kilometer timed prologue stage. Al-Rajhi, the defending champion, leads 30 drivers from Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Lebanon, France, Russia and Germany into the start of the 2016 Jeddah Rally Friday morning.

The Rally Jeddah in its 3rd edition is being organized by former Saudi rally driver Abdullah Bakshab, supervised by the International Automobile Federation and Saudi Arabian Motor Bike Federation. The event  will run as a cross-country rally across the Kingdom’s western deserts for cars, motorcycles and quads on November 17 and 18 and hopes to join four other rallies in an exciting, new 2017 Gulf Challenge, a series of cross country events all around the Middle East.

“This year we are running a two-day rally and a shorter format,” said Abdullah Bakshab. “We want to be part of the new Gulf Challenge alongside events in Oman, Qatar and the UAE next year and this is an excellent opportunity for us to get the event running smoothly in the same format as the Gulf Challenge in readiness for next season.”

The Rally Jeddah will begin with a opening ceremony on North Abhur from 19.30, the competitive action will start with a timed super special stage of around three kilometers on 20.00 on November  17. The action then will switch to a challenging desert selective section of around 220km in the Khulais area from 13.00 on November 18. The prize giving will take place adjacent to the super special stage from 21.00 on Friday evening.
